Suez Case Study

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK (SUEZ UK) employ more than 6,000 people in the UK. They manage 10 million tonnes of waste and recycling for local authority and business customers in the UK and are pioneering sustainable solutions and innovative technologies for the UK’s circular economy.

What did Better with Money do?

SUEZ UK is committed to inclusion and the wellbeing of their people. Importantly, they recognise the impact that financial wellbeing has on people’s overall health and life choices. It is therefore no surprise that financial wellbeing forms one of the eight domains within their ‘Wellness for All’ charter and an area that they have given much focus to over the last four years.

SUEZ UK have a thriving Women’s Network and their opening meeting of the year focused on financial resilience.

Better with Money has a range of financial wellbeing webinars designed to engage diverse and marginalised groups. For the Women’s Network, we delivered a session that focused on the five main issues that affect women’s finances, namely:

  • Lack of confidence
  • Menopause
  • Gender pay and pension gaps
  • Divorce
  • Caring responsibilities

The Outcome

65 members of the network joined live, with many more getting in touch to access the session recording.

Our commitment to inclusion and wellbeing centres on respect and resilience. The intersectionality of financial wellbeing with our commitment to inclusivity is evident. From doctorate research into women and work which I have undertaken, I know that this topic is utterly fundamental to fostering a sense of empowerment and independence for women.

Without financial knowledge and resilience, women will be hindered in making progress towards equity, both in the home and/or in the workplace.
